Welcome to our The Settlement Preschool, Childcare and Summer Camp web-site.
The Settlement was established in 1986. Our mission is to provide the best in early childhood education and childcare services for each of our enrolled children. We understand that parents need to follow their daily pursuits knowing that their children are safe and are enjoying their day in a safe developmentally appropriate environment.
In recognition of our high quality environment, programs and staff we qualified as Montgomery County, Tennessee’s first nationally accredited childcare facility. In 1996 we received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the oldest childcare authority in the U.S. This accreditation serves as a clear statement to the quality of the service we have been and will continue to provide for many more years. Currently the Settlement will no longer seek re-accredidation in NAYEC. The primary reason for our decision is that the Settlement will be transitioning to become a private school offering full-time Kindergarten that will be monitored by the State of Tennessee's Department of Education. Thereby, the Settlement will seek accreditation with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS CASI) in the near future. Our childcare services will continue to meet, exceed and be monitored by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.
Our preschool/childcare programs begin at age 18 month and continue through pre-kindergarten. All children are grouped by age (18-24 months, 24-36 months, etc.) in individual class rooms. Our programs are designed to be age appropriate, with a focus on group social skills, academic concepts, creative thinking and problem solving. We often hear praise from local public school kindergarten teachers regarding how well prepared our children are when they begin their public school experience.
We also provide childcare services for school age children (kindergarten through the summer following 5th grade). Our before and after school program is for children attending our nearby elementary schools. The program extends through the summer public school break as a summer day camp.
Our staff has worked together for many years. Our lead teachers and director's average over 15 years experience in childcare…most of that time at The Settlement.

Currently, we are accepting enrollment for our 2, 3 & 4 year old programs.
Also, we have a few before/after school opens for STB, Glenellen, NE and Burt.
